I've spent 2 years in Deep Run's art program and in the beginning, I had no idea what style I wanted my works to be so I messed around with many stuff such as 3D art, digital art, design, chinese painting, and many others. Eventually over the summer I discovered my love for graphite and portraits, it gives me an excuse to draw every single little detail the way I see it and invest time into what I love to do.
For my first year, I had to go out of my comfort zone frequently due to the specific assignments and try to discover my own style of work, it took me a long time and many unsatisfied works to finally discover something that makes me stand out. If I could re-live my last year as an art student, I would keep pushing my boundaries and maybe make a work that would take a long time with extreme details that would make me proud forever.
My biggest accomplishment was probably finding my own style as an artist and my "Marshall" piece, in that piece I kept pushing my limits on the size of paper, the emotions, and the details so I was very proud of it. My advice to future students would probably be to use your time wisely in summer and make a lot of works to try out different stuff.
